  • Re-treatment is typically needed between 2-6 months.
  • Regular injections usually yield a longer-lasting result and over time, stubborn lines tend to appear softer and less visible even between treatments.
  • If your upper lip was treated, you will not be able to drink through a straw, whistle, or enunciate some words for approximately 2 weeks.

MICRONEEDLING

About Microneedling

Unsure about Botox? Nervous about injections? Microneedling is a great alternative to improving fine lines associated with aging! It doesn’t involve the injection of any medications, just pricking the skin with tiny sterilized needles. Depending on the area of your face or body being treated and the size of the needle used, the procedure is well tolerated, and in some cases, virtually painless, feeling only a mild prickling sensation. A Topical anesthetic is also used to reduce any pain and discomfort.

Before and After Microneedling

Microneedling Benefits

There are a multitude of benefits associated with microneedling. It increases production of collagen and elastin by the body naturally, tightening the skin and giving it a refreshed, youthful glow. This process can also be enhanced with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma).

The use of PRP requires that we extract a small amount of your own blood and spin it down to extract it. Then, it is used in the microneedling procedure to drastically speed up the healing process, and collagen/elastin production!

In terms of skin quality, microneedling provides a significant reduction in pore size, fine lines, and can improve the appearance of acne, as well as the scarring and dark spots associated with it.

Microneedling is not just for your face! Improvements in the appearance of both stretch marks and deeper scars associated with previous surgery can be achieved with this procedure.

A wide variety of skin locations can be treated including but not limited to the tummy, thighs and arms. Common surgical scars such as from tummy tucks, breast augmentation or reduction, cesarean section, and other post surgical scarring can all benefit from the application of microneedling.

Last but never least, the maintenance of beautiful, radiant skin. Call our office for a free consultation and let us help you change the way you feel about you!

FAQs/Tips

Frequently Asked Questions and Important Tips for Maximizing Effectiveness and Appearance Before and After your Microneedling Treatment

  • Your skin will be pink or red in appearance following skin needling treatment, much like a sunburn. Temporary redness and mild sunburn effects may last up to 3-4 days.
  • Some minor bleeding and bruising is possible, depending on the intensity of the procedure (for example, the length of the needle used for the particular indication being treated and the number of times it is passed across the treatment area). Your skin may also feel warm, tight, and itchy for a short while. This should subside in 12-48 hours.
  • PRP or Infadolan (Vit. A & D ointment) can be applied. This promotes the healing of damaged skin post-treatment.
  • Side effects or risks are minimal with this type of treatment and typically include minor flaking or dryness of the skin, with scab formation in rare cases.
  • Hyperpigmentation (darkening of certain areas of the skin) can occur very rarely and usually resolves after a month.
  • Freckles may lighten and/or temporarily or permanently disappear in treated areas.
  • Notify your provider prior to treatment if any of the following apply to you: active infections, rashes, warts, skin cancer, active acne, skin-related autoimmune disorders, use of anticoagulants (NSAIDS, ASA, Coumadin/Warfarin), pregnancy and lactation, recent ablative dermal procedures, rosacea, diabetes, actinic (solar) keratosis, and/or a history of keloid formation.

PRP (PROTEIN RICH PLASMA)

About PRP

PRP stands for Protein Rich Plasma. It is an office based procedure that involves the removal of a small amount of your own blood that is processed and used as a medical grade lubricant to revitalize your skin. It is typically used with microneedling. It uses your own body’s plasma to tighten and smooth your skin, as well as aid in healing by decreasing inflammation. Collagen production in the face is multiplied by the natural effects of platelets and plasma at the cellular level. Best of all, aside from a small prick during the blood withdrawal portion of the procedure, the application is completely pain-free!

FAQs/Tips

Frequently Asked Questions and Important Tips for Maximizing Effectiveness and Appearance Before and After your PRP

  • If you have symptoms of a fever, cold, covid-19 or the flu, or develop a cold sore, blemish, or rash, etc. in the area to be treated prior to your appointment, your treatment may need to be postponed until you are well again.
  • If you have a special event or vacation coming up, it is recommended that you schedule your treatment at least 2 weeks in advance (3-4 weeks is ideal).
  • If you are being treated in the lip area and have a history of herpes (cold sores) with outbreaks more than 4 times a year, some practitioners recommend that you are pretreated with medication to prevent a flare. This office recommends Valtrex, **Please let us know that you need a prescription if you do not have this medication on hand.**
  • Discontinue use of anti-inflammatory drugs (steroidal and non- steroidal) such as: aspirin, Motrin, Advil, or any other ibuprofen drugs at least 3 days to 1 week before your treatment. With PRP, we actually want inflammation, this is one of the mechanisms of how PRP does its work.
  • It is recommended that you avoid: alcohol, caffeine, niacin supplements, spicy foods, and cigarettes 3 days before and after your treatment, as all of these may increase the risk of bruising.
  • If you are or have been on systemic use of corticosteroids (steroids such as prednisone, methylprednisolone, Medrol dose pack, etc.) within 2 weeks of treatment, we cannot treat you while on this medication. Please consult your prescribing physician for approval to discontinue use of steroids and determine when it is safe for you to receive treatment.
  • Discontinue use of any other blood thinning supplements such as: vitamin E, vitamin A, ginkgo biloba, garlic, flaxseed oil, cod liver, or other forms of fish oil, essential fatty acids (EFAs and DHAs) etc., at least 3 days to 1 week before and after treatment to minimize bruising and bleeding.
  • Since our PRP application may be topical and may not involve any facial injections, there are minimal restrictions, allowing you to return to your daily activities almost immediately.
  • Do not wash or take a shower for at least 6 hours after your treatment.
  • Do not use any lotions, creams, or makeup for at least 6 hours after your treatment.
  • Avoid vigorous exercise, sun and heat exposure for at least 3 days after your treatment.
  • Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and cigarettes for 3 days before and after your treatment.
  • Maintain a healthy diet and drink at least 64 ounces of water total the day of the treatment. Fiji water is recommended due to its high content of silica. Continue adequate water intake the first week after.
  • It is unlikely, but you may develop a small bruise at the site of the blood draw. This will almost always resolve quickly on its own.

At La Lume Concierge Aesthetics, we understand and can maintain a man’s masculine appearance while improving the quality and contour of his skin. Neurotoxin (Botox, Dysport)

Our goal is to create a natural look while maintaining your style. This treatment relaxes the muscles to smooth fine lines and create a more youthful you. The male facial structure requires a different approach and we, at La Lume, have a high level of experience in this area.

Reducing those stubborn lines around the eyes (crow’s feet) and deeper lines on the forehead can take years off your face while maintaining your masculinity. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered!

Filler (Juvéderm, Restylane)

Small, strategically placed fillers can help to reduce deep lines and take years off your appearance by helping to restore lost volume that occurs naturally with aging. Men have had fantastic results with our hyaluronic acid fillers, which are safe, effective, and reversible!

Microneedling

Our micro-needling treatments help to create a smoother, more evenly toned skin quality. It is a favorite service of our male clients. This procedure also addresses ingrown hairs from shaving and can reduce scarring.

This treatment is also effective for restoring hair loss. The creation of abrasions over the hair follicle stimulates new growth. By using micro-needling with PRP*, these results can be enhanced for even more hair regrowth.

Time and patience are required to see optimal results. This process can take up to 5-7 sessions before new growth is visible.

* PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is a serum derived from your blood. We must first draw your blood and then process it to extract your plasma for use with the procedure.
